‘Backwards’ to go Forward

One thing you have to love about the theater world is that nobody, and I mean nobody, has cooler benefits and events for charity. With all these creative people in one place who have talent as big as their hearts, you can pretty much guarantee that any event will be ten times better than your standard rubbery-chicken $250-a-plate corporate fundraiser.

Last week we spotlighted the Broadway Bears, and this week there is another fantastic way to be entertained and have your money go to a good cause; ‘Broadway Backwards’! Taking place on February 22 and benefitting Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, ‘Broadway Backwards’ features awesome, talented Broadway performers singing songs that they would never otherwise be able to sing in the actual shows because of their genders or other unavoidable life factors. So, if you ever wanted to see an all-male version of ‘Matchmaker’ from Fiddler on the Roof or see Whoopi Goldberg kill a number as a member of the Jets, here’s your chance. Your money will support a good cause, and you’ll get to be reminded that talent trumps type every time!!

Here’s a preview video to whet the appetite:

P.S. This year’s event has an astounding line-up, and is hosted by Musical Theater and Television legend Florence Henderson! What could be better?
